6 tips to make sorting easier (and finally get started)

You may feel that something in your home needs to change. Maybe the amount of things, the chaos, or simply a strange tiredness from the space you live in weighs on you. And yet you can’t get yourself to start decluttering. Not because you’re lazy. But because you’re approaching it in a way that isn’t aligned with you.

You probably know the feeling.
The thought of decluttering returns again and again, but every time something stops it. Fatigue. Inner resistance. Or a quiet voice saying you won’t manage it the way you “should.”

In the Healing Decluttering approach, we look at this differently.

I don’t believe in pressure or perfect methods. I believe that when the way you approach decluttering changes, the way you feel during the process changes too. And the whole process begins to open naturally.

1. Find a place where your items can go

One thing people rarely talk about is how strongly the idea of “throwing things away” holds us back.

Many people don’t postpone decluttering because they don’t want fewer things.
They postpone it because they don’t want to feel like they’re wasting something.

Once you find a place where your items can go — a charity or a re‑use center you resonate with — it brings relief.
You’re no longer throwing things away. You’re letting them move on.

And that is a huge relief.

2. Don’t wait for the perfect day or perfect method

The idea that one day you’ll have enough time, energy, and motivation — and you’ll do a huge, intense decluttering session — is very tempting.

But often, it’s just postponing.

Life rarely pauses to create ideal conditions. And the longer you wait, the heavier the beginning feels.

Try something different this time.

Don’t wait. Instead, catch the moment when a small impulse appears inside you.
And allow yourself to follow it — even if only for a few minutes.

These small beginnings have a special power. They’re not visible on the outside, but inside, something already shifts.

3. Move forward in small steps

You may have heard that you should declutter “big.” Take everything out, sort it all at once, do a major cleanup.

For many people, this is exactly why they never start.

When it’s too much, the body and mind shut down. And instead of action, overwhelm arrives.

Try allowing yourself the complete opposite.

One drawer.
One shelf.
One small section of space.

It may take just a few minutes.
But in these small steps, energy begins to move.

A beautiful place to start is the entryway. It’s a space you walk through every day, and it quietly influences how you feel at home the moment you arrive. If it’s cluttered, it can keep you in a subtle state of chaos without you fully realizing it.

4. Listen to what is truly manageable for you right now

You don’t have to start with what weighs on you the most. Because that is often too big a bite.

If a certain area feels sensitive — for example, a wardrobe connected to body changes or a life transition — it’s completely okay to leave it for later.

Healing Decluttering is not about forcing yourself through resistance.
It’s about starting where things feel manageable. Where you feel at least a little lightness.
Where you can take the first step without an inner battle.

5. Ask for help — ideally professional help

You may feel that you “should” manage it on your own.

But the truth is that decluttering is not just a practical activity.
It often opens emotions, memories, and various inner layers.

And that’s exactly why having someone help you can be incredibly relieving.

Someone who guides you through the process, holds space for you, and helps you finish — that can be the exact impulse you’ve needed for a long time.

In the Czech Republic, you’ll find many options for assisted decluttering and professional organizing. Asking for help is not weakness.
It’s support.

6. Open yourself to energetic cleansing of your space

A home is not just walls and belongings.

It carries atmosphere. Memory. Imprints of everything that has happened in it.

And sometimes this invisible layer is exactly what affects why you can’t move forward with decluttering.
Why you feel tired. Why you feel stuck.

Energetic cleansing of space can be a gentle yet powerful step that opens the entire process.

Like opening a window after a long time.
And the air finally begins to move.

In conclusion

You may not need more discipline. You may not need a better system.

You may simply need a different approach.

One that doesn’t push you, but supports you. One that doesn’t overwhelm you, but gradually frees you.

Start where it’s possible. Gently. In your own way.

And watch what begins to change.

If you feel your home needs a change but you don’t want to go through it alone, I’ve prepared an online Healing Decluttering course where I guide you through this process step by step.

The course wasn’t created as another manual for having a perfectly tidy home. It was created from the need to find a path that is truly sustainable in everyday life — one that respects your energy, your situation, and the pace at which things can naturally change.

The course opens on May 14.

And right now you can get the course at a special early‑bird price. Only until April 30.
If it calls you, you can join.
