Spring Energy Cleanse for Yourself and Your Home

Nature awakens in spring, magazine covers encourage detoxing your diet and wardrobe — and how we feel depends greatly on how we spent the winter. Did you allow yourself to rest and regain strength? Even seeds wait underground for a while before showing their first sprouts. So if you don’t feel ready yet, recharge first — only then begin making bigger changes. And if you do feel well, the increasing sunlight brings a wave of new energy. Spring is the perfect time to cleanse not only your body but also your home. Which raises the question: where to begin?

Where to begin?

This may sound unconventional, but don’t start with decluttering right away. You’d miss a valuable opportunity to use this moment of change for a deeper transformation — not only of your home but also your life. There are several ways to begin; let’s explore them together.

How do you currently feel — and what troubles you most?

If you feel overwhelmed, constantly rushing from one task to another, don’t prescribe yourself a demanding deep clean right away! Your task is to pause. Forget the state of your home for a moment. Try to accept it as it is. You know how many people have homes similar to yours? Most! But few photograph it for social media or talk about it — so relax.

Once you begin, change will come at the right time. It’s not good to force it when you’re in your current state. Inhale, exhale, hand on your heart, and say: “I accept my home as it is.” It’s a relief to realize that you are okay even if your home is not perfectly tidy.

Go into nature and connect with the element of earth

When we feel overwhelmed, we need fresh air — but what we truly lack is the element of earth. Go for a walk in the forest or at least a park. Turn off your phone or spend a moment simply being with nature. Notice what’s happening around you. Listen with all your senses. If we enter nature with headphones on and a phone in hand, talking or listening to something, we rob ourselves of the chance to fully reset and connect.

It may feel difficult at first — you’ll feel the urge to turn something on, call someone, record a message, listen to a podcast. But stay with it. You’ll get used to it and it will feel wonderful. Stop somewhere, sit or lie down, place your hands on the ground, and enjoy the healing contact with Mother Earth. Her energy is always available. You can give her what you no longer need. Say silently or aloud what you’re ready to release — and what you wish to welcome into your life.

Walks don’t need to be long — even 30 minutes helps. Of course, the longer, the better. When you return home, you’ll feel renewed. Also consider whether you use your phone and social media too often — they are major sources of distraction and inner restlessness. If you want tips on limiting social media, read my article on digital detox.

“My home exhausts me. I walk in and immediately feel the weight of everything that needs to be done. It’s hard to relax here.”

If that’s the case, your home isn’t a peaceful harbor but a constant source of stress. The following tips can help you change that. They’re intentionally simple and quick — yet can make a big difference.

Pay attention to your entryway

Let fresh air in — thoroughly ventilate your home. Notice the state of your entrance and hallway, where energy flows into your home, and remove anything that doesn’t belong there.

In spring, store away most winter clothing — wash it or take it to dry cleaning. Make space for lighter items. The hallway should contain only what you currently use — it shouldn’t be a storage area. Remove boxes and bags that don’t belong there. Store winter shoes. A cluttered hallway sends the message that the whole home is messy. Even improving just the hallway can help you feel less exhausted when you walk in.

You can also place a symbol in your entryway that welcomes you the moment you step inside.

Do an energetic cleanse of your home

If you’re exhausted, an energetic cleanse can help you feel better quickly. Energetic cleansing is useful anytime you need to deeply refresh and restart your home. Everything in your home emits energy — objects, plants, animals, and of course people. This energy settles into the space. Our emotions, thoughts, and actions imprint themselves into the environment. The more intense or traumatic the experiences, the stronger the imprint. If arguments occur or occurred in your home, the space carries that energy. When you work with intention and cleansing tools, the home feels lighter, brighter, and relieved.

How to cleanse your home with salt

One of the simplest methods is using sea or Himalayan salt. You’ll need 1 kg per room. Pour about a quarter of the bag into each corner — where energy accumulates most. You can use bowls, but they shouldn’t be used for food afterward. You can also pour salt directly on the floor — it won’t damage anything if kept dry. Sprinkle along the walls too.

Salt has strong cleansing properties. Leave it for 24–48 hours to absorb unwanted energy. Then vacuum or sweep it up, throw it away outside your home. As you place or pour the salt, say: “Let what no longer serves me leave.” “Let everything that does not serve my highest good depart.”

If a corner is blocked by furniture, place a bowl inside the cabinet. Put one bowl under your bed — ideally under where you sleep. It will cleanse you overnight. You’ll feel renewed, and your home will shift energetically. Salt truly is worth its weight in gold.

I also love working with incense — especially resin incense like copal. It cleanses quickly and brings great relief. But there are many options.

If you’re new to incense, start with a bundle of white sage. It comes from North America, but we also have local cleansing herbs — mugwort or common sage. You can tie your own bundles. There are many incense blends, but white sage is the simplest for beginners. Light it over a candle and walk through your home clockwise, focusing on corners.

Open windows so unwanted energy can leave. Hold a bowl under the sage to catch sparks. Sage will need relighting. Repeat: “Let what no longer serves me leave.” “Let everything that does not serve my highest good depart.”

You can also sing or use instruments — drums, bells, Tibetan bowls, chimes. Or play my ritual song for cleansing. Salt + incense is a powerful basic cleanse. If you need tools, my shop offers sets.

Support your cleanse with spring cleaning

Traditionally, spring was the time for big cleanings — sweeping cobwebs, deep cleaning. I’m not a fan of extreme cleaning (especially pre‑Christmas madness), but spring naturally brings the desire to refresh the home.

Besides the hallway, focus on three rooms: bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. Break cleaning into phases. Vacuum thoroughly, dust neglected areas like window frames, door frames, corners, under the bed, behind the sofa. Clean drains. Repot plants and wipe their leaves. Combining energetic cleansing with physical cleaning will restart your home. It can be part of maintaining an already decluttered home or help you prepare for deeper decluttering.

Then you can begin decluttering

You may prefer being outside in spring rather than sorting things indoors — timing is up to you. You can declutter anytime; the key is your determination. Most people declutter in spring, autumn, or New Year — but spring is ideal.

If you want to declutter together, contact me and we’ll schedule a session. If you’re not near Prague, you’ll find all decluttering methods in my online course Decluttering with Ease or the full program Unlock Your Wardrobe.
